Als ich diese Meldung bei Bornrich zum ersten Mal entdeckte, musste ich gleich mehrmals nachlesen. Es gibt tatsächlich Hersteller, die den Star Wars Droiden R2-D2 zu einem Entertainment System nach- und umbauen. So lesen wir, dass Hammacher Schlemmer seine Version des niedlichen Kerlchens mit der Piepsstimme zum stolzen Preis von 2.799,95 US-Dollar auf den Markt bringt:
This is the only home theater system available that is modeled after the famous droid from the Star Wars films. – was man durchaus glauben möchte.
Klar, dass hier allerhand Technik geboten wird, denn schließlich wollen nicht nur die Star Wars Filme in bester Bild- und Ton-Qualität genossen werden. Bornrich schreibt hierzu:
The head of the creature features a DLP projection system that projects movies, TV shows, and images at 1024×768 resolution and 1,500:1 contrast onto walls equivalent to an 80-inch screen. Ach, ja: Eine Fernbedienung existiert natürlich auch. Diese ist dem Millenium-Falken von Captain Han Solo nachempfunden. Ein Produkt für echte Fans!
